U16 Championship

Our U16 team made the short journey to Ballymacoda to play round two of the U16 championship. What a miserable night it turned out weather wise but that did not dampen the spirits of this great bunch of girls. Leah McEvoy had our opening two points before Sinead landers and Gill butler joined forces to score our first goal. Niamh o Farrell ,Elaine Terry and Emma Treacy stood strong against the pressure being applied by o neills. Thanks to the hard work of Ciara Daly the forwards were getting great supply of ball and Gill used this to our advantage with a second goal. fr o neills hit the net before Ciara,Hanna Looney and Leah all scored points to leave us with a comfortable 2-5 to 1-2 at half time. As expected o neills came out strong after half time and goaled within minutes and followed it up with a point. The girls knew the pressure was on and they fought hard. Ciara Motherway fought off some great saves. Hannah, Ciara and Chloe Sigerson scored three lovely points before o neills replied with one. things were looking good for us but in true o neills style they were far from gone and goaled. the tension on the line was mighty, the clock was ticking ad thankfully Leah pointed yet again to keep us safe 2-10 to 3-4 being the final score. Well done girls that was a great display.
