Our U16's travelled to glen rovers on Wednesday night in glorious sunshine. Having beaten st Finbarrs the previous week our hopes were high for another victory. Glen rovers opened the scoring with a point but this was quickly replied to by Hanna Looney scoring three on the trot. Niamh O’Brien and Emma Treacy defended the goal mouth very well and where would we have been without ever reliable Niamh O’Farrell who is also now playing a stormer at senior level. Glen rovers had a point number two and Jill butler answered the call to score with another point. Yet again the glen replied. Ciara Motherway made sure the goal line was well protected making many fine saves. Grainne Tyrell was having a stormer at midfield and was well assisted there by Amy Benaim and later by Ciara Barry. Great credit is due to many of these girls as they are still at U14 level. Sinead landers popped over another point and Hanna finished the half with a further three to end the half on a score line of 8 points to 3 points in our favour.

Rachel Fogarty, Leah McEvoy and Clodagh Tyrell in the half back line made sure lots of balls were driven into the forward line  and great use was made of this by Jill Butler as she goaled. Glen rovers pointed yet again and they hit us with a cracker of a goal. Hanna popped two points over the bar. Lana and then Elln Cassidy made sure plenty ball was kept in around the danger zone and Sinead Landers used that ball to best advantage by putting it to the back of the net. Yet again Glen rovers goaled. Anything they could do Hanna could do too and for her it was another goal and a point. Glen rovers came at us again with two further goals and a point but time ran out for them to catch us and we ran out winners on score of 3-11 to 4-5. Well done girls a great victory.

Make sure you continue to train each week and practice all the time at home.
