U14 Vs Dungourney

posted 22 Jun 2015, 00:18 by Pro Killeagh Camogie
Having recorded victories over St catherines, fr. O'Neills and bride rovers in the u14 league we took to the main field in Killeagh on Wed last the 17th to play Dungourney in our final league game knowing victory would guarantee us top spot in the group and progression to the quarter finals. We were down a number of players on the night due to the school graduation and injury but had the bear fifteen due to players returning from injury. We started off well but failed to convert our pressure into scores with a number of wides before Aoife O'Neill doubled on a ball in from Joanna to find the back of the net and to get us going Elena followed this up with a point before Joanna added a goal of her own. Dungourney did took a bit of control and scored an unstoppable and goal in to the top corner. This was the final score of the half with the girls coming in for a much needed break from the heat and to take on water. We went into the second with the intention of taking our chances which we did from the start with scores coming from Saoirse, Elena, Rebecca Sheehan, Orla Cowhig and Aimee Kearney who had moved out of goals to register scores on the other end to run out comfortable winners. Team on the night was Aimee Kearney, Niamh O'Connor, Aisling Tyrell, Chloe Motherway, Ava Cunningham, Chloe Walsh, Grainne Landers, Orla Cowhig, Rebecca Sheehan, Saoirse Burns, Elena Kelleher, Rebecca Manning, Amy McCarthy, Joanna Keniry and Aoife O'Neill.
Attention for this group now turns to the Imokily u13 and u15 leagues where they will play Sarsfields and bride rovers in the first games. Finally we would like to wish Aine O'Driscoll a speedy recovery from her injury.
