The first round of the under14A league/championship was played on Thurs last 5th April in Eire Og against Eire Og.
There was a huge turn out of players for the game which made the picking of the team a very difficult task. Killleagh played against the breeze in the !st half and defended with great gusto under pressure from a strong Eire Og side. With the aid of the breeze Eire Og were first to score tapping over 4 points without reply. Killeagh fought strongly and their good work was rewarded with a well taken goal. This score revitalized the Killeagh girls and working hard all over the field they were well in the game at half time on a scoreline of Killeagh 1.01 to Eire Og 1.04 Our girls turned in a great performance in the second half and after hard work and a lot of skill found themselves 3 points up with 5 minutes remaining. Then came what could have been a killer blow, a well worked goal for Eire Og. As the game moved into the final minutes this team dug deep and were awarded a 45 after some very intense pressure from the forwards. The resulting 45 found its way to the Eire Og net amid great excitement. This was closely followed by another goal from the puck out which finished the game and gave Eire Og no chance to recover. The final score 3.06 to 1.06.
This was a great all round team performance and will give this team a welcome boost of confidence as they move onto the next round. Well done to all the girls and all involved with this team.
