Senior Championship Semi-Final

posted 11 Aug 2014, 00:24 by Pro Killeagh Camogie

Having made hard work of our first championship game against Ballincollig we travelled to Carrigtwohill eager to make amends in the replay.

What a start we got with a goal and a point on the score board within minutes. Kate Murphy had the point from a free and Angela Walsh struck the net .Ballincollig took the next three points, two frees and one from play. Angela pointed to keep the game flowing for us, Kate brought us up to three points. Jess O‘Shea was having the game of her life; Ciara Daly work rate was great. The great work up front was rewarded with a penalty. Leah McEvoy stepped up to the plate and though the shot was blocked Laura Treacy goaled the rebound. Hannah Looney was a thorn in the forward line for Ballincollig and Kate converted with ease those frees Hannah was awarded. Ballincollig had two points to leave the half-time score 2-5 to 5pts in our favour.

A few words of wisdom from the three wise men and the game was on again. Another dream start with a well struck free by Kate was converted to the net by Angela. Ballincollig had point number six. Angela, having a stormer of a game, struck the net yet again. Ballincollig upped the pressure and got a goal and two points. Angela and Ciara Daly pointed. The last three points of the game belonged to Ballincollig but by then we had put the game out of their reach. Victory for Killeagh on a score of 4-7 to 1-11.
