Minors Semi Final

posted 19 Apr 2015, 14:47 by Pro Killeagh Camogie

Players and parents made the early Sunday morning trip to Castle Road to take on Brian Dillons in the League Semi-final. The pitch had been sanded over the winter and was in excellent condition and the sun shone.

The thirteen aside game began at a very fast pace and both teams had points on the score board within the first two minutes, ours coming from the stick of Ciara Barry. A long range shot from Lucy o Gorman went all the way to the back of the net to give us an early lead.

This lead was short lived as Brian Dillons took over for a while scoring two points and then a goal in quick succession. Our determination kept us going as did the strength of '' OUR ROCK" Niamh o Farrell. Niamh drove ball after ball up the field to our forwards, Ciara Motherway, Courtney Horgan, Ciara Barry, Sinead Landers and Katie Aherne. Though scores may have eluded them they kept the pressure on and earned two 45s which Chloe Sigerson calmly dropped over the crossbar. Brian Dillons pointed from the corner flag. Katie Aherne ended the half with a point from play  to leave the game level at  the break.

Words of advice and encouragement from mentors Mattie and Brian and we were ready for the off again. Lana Merc and Megan Treacy were introduced. Sinead Landers growing in confidence with each game gave the team a great start with a goal. Chloe pointed a 45. Leah was giving the game all her never ending energy. Courtney Horgan had her first goal in the Killeagh jersey. Brian Dillons kept the pressure on and managed another goal. Kate mary recovered well and kept the pressure at bay for the rest of the game. Lucy o Gorman having played well all through the game had her second goal as did Sinead Landers. The game ended 5.5 to 2.4 in our favour. Well done girls.

We play Kilbrittan\Timaleague in the FINAL
