Minor County A semi final

posted 14 Oct 2012, 14:44 by Pro Killeagh Camogie

After much toeing and frowing we eventually made the trip to Brinny on sat last to play Valley Rovers. It was great to see the contingent of parents all lined up and waiting for the pitch to open in Brinny, it showed the eagerness of the girls to take on this game.
Ali rose Sisk opened the game in style landing a well taken pass from Ciara o connor to the back of the net. What a start!! Valleys pointed and that was replied to by a well taken free from Leah McEvoy. Valleys goaled and we were level, not for long said Hannah Looney as she pointed. Zoe McEvoy, Niamh o Farrell, and Becky Fitzgerald gave great coverage to Jessica Swayne in goals as Valleys piled on the pressure. A 65 was pointed by Leah, goal number two came from a pass to Ciara by Ali rose Half time score 2.3 to1.1 in our favour.
A long run by Hannah gave us the first point of the second half and Ali rose did likewise. Valleys as expected came at us strong and had a goal and a point quickly.  Ellen Benaim having a stormer and was well assisted by Laura Tracey and Niamh Daly as they dug deep and drove the game well up the field. Ciara Daly and Aoife walsh at midfield made sure of ever ball. Leah pointed two more balls.Nora Walsh and Roisin Culligan gave plenty ball in to the full line all the time and Hannah made sure she used it well by delivering it to the back of the net one more time. Aoife walsh pointed from a midfield run to end the game 3.8 to 2.2. A great win
Ciara Motherway, Jill Butler and Elaine Terry didn't get a run on the day but are always ready and willing when needed. Thanks to Emma Treacy who kept everybody well hydrated on the day.
